What the work is
Compliance leadership covers the named and near-named seats: MLRO, BSA Officer, Head of Financial Crime, Chief Compliance Officer, and the deputy and regional heads beneath them. The mandate is programme ownership — governance, budget, regulatory relationships, board reporting, and personal accountability for the effectiveness of controls.
Nobody enters here directly. The route is a decade or more of operational and programme work, usually with at least one examination, remediation, or licence application owned end to end. Institutions weigh regulatory relationship experience and the ability to defend decisions in writing far above certification count.
